Casa de la Cuesta is situated 1.5km from the nearest village of Santa Cruz del Comercio.
Its elevated position amongst Olive and Almond trees affords panoramic views of open countryside. To the south the market town of Alhama de Granada can be seen with Maroma (2069m) behind.
Santa Cruz del Comercio is a typical small Spanish village with three bars, one of which serves good quality reasonably priced food. There are two well stocked shops and a market in the village square on Wednesday mornings. The village hosts many fiestas throughout the year where everyone is welcome. Free food and drink is served along with singing and dancing into the early hours.
Casa de la Cuesta offers a peaceful setting for a relaxing holiday whilst being within easy reach of many attractions and areas of interest.
Casa de la Cuesta provides high quality, flexible holiday accommodation whether for a short break or longer visit. Whilst modern in construction it has been designed in a style typical of the area and using local materials.
A double and twin bedroom are available, both have full en suite facilities and the ability to accommodate additional people utilising a sofa bed. The rooms have private balconies and seating areas. Between the bedrooms is a large communal room containing a kitchen, lounge and dining area. A log burner is available to use along with a plentiful supply of logs.
Guests are free to explore the acres of Almond and Olive groves surrounding the accommodation and have the use of an 8 x 4m swimming pool ( shared with owners).
There are very few areas within Europe where it is possible to enjoy such a wide range of activities close at hand. Here you could enjoy a morning swim in the Mediterranean and in the afternoon be skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
The nearby market town of Alhama de Granada is built surrounding an impressive gorge which is ideal for walks. At the end of the gorge there are two good quality restaurants. One has recently installed an Arabic bath with steam room and massage facilities, this is a perfect place to relax. The town also boasts a natural hot springs and hosts many fiestas during the summer.
The miles of quiet rural tracks near Casa de la Cuesta are perfect for walking and cycling, cycle hire is available locally. Walking maps can be supplied along with the option to employ a guide who can take you deeper into the national parks or even to the summit of Maroma. Bird watchers will be amazed by the numerous species of birds that can be seen. This is especially the case in early summer when migrating birds populate the areas fields, rivers and woods.
The Mediterranean coast with its varied resorts can be reached in 1.5 hours along with the city of Malaga. Lake Bermajales, 20 minutes drive, provides a venue for fresh water swimming, fishing and the hire of pedal and sail boats.
The city of Granada is an hour’s drive and is the home of the Alhambra Palace which has been short listed as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. An open top bus tour operates throughout the year and provides an easy way to see the cities many main attractions. Numerous international and local traditional shops can be found in the cities narrow streets and tree covered squares. A Science museum and water park are ideal places to visit for families. During the Christmas period the light displays in the cities streets rival London with many shops having life size nativity scenes on display.
Further a field a Wolf Park, Donkey sanctuary, zoo and amusement park can be found. The historic cities of Seville and Cordoba are approximately 2.5 hours drive. The Sierra Nevada ski resort is a 1.5 hour drive as is the Alpujarras region made famous by author Chris Stewart..
