Alhama de Granada

Alhama de Granada, an historic town in the province of Granada, approx. 50 km from the city of Granada.
Alhama de Granada looks out over some of Spain's most spectacular scenery. Alhama is a beautiful town, with many traditional bars and restaurants offering traditional tapas and dishes. During the summer there are many fiestas and organised events, these are not organised for the tourists, they are traditional events, so you can grasp and take in a little of traditional spanish culture. There are many off track walks, fantastic scenery, watersports, parks and much more.
In winter, the view to the majestic snow-capped Sierra Nevada is uninterrupted. Close by is the vast and beautiful Bermejales lake, 12km from town and reached by a tree lined road. There is safe swimming here and plenty of non-motorised water sports. There are also a couple of cafes at the edge of the lake. Many of the local population spend evenings and weekends barbecuing at the water's edge, it is a great location.
